Code of Corporate Ethics

The Code of Ethics
of the academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University

(approved by the Academic Council of the BKSU protocol # 1 from 29.08.2011)

General regulations

This Code of Ethics of the academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University is developed in accordance with the Laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Education”, “On Science,” “On Anti-Corruption”, theCharter of State Enterprise “academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University”, Internal Regulations of the University and accepted ethical standards.

In the Code of Ethics of the academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University the ethical principles are represented and required for students and the University staff:

  • administrative staff;
  • teaching staff;
  • teaching and support staff;
  • college students, BD, MD and PhD students;
  • service personnel.

The Code regulates the relations, based on universally accepted moral values, the priority of human rights, democratic ideas of civil society.

The Code of Ethics of the academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University is based on the following principals:

  • tolerance;
  • teamwork;
  • academic honesty;
  • corporate solidarity.;

The purpose of the Code of Ethics of the academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University is to create at the University the atmosphere of mutual respect, goodwill, research and creative collaboration.

The objectives of the Code of Ethics of the academician E.A.Buketov Karaganda State University are the following:

  • to provide the intellectual, cultural and moral development;
  • protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of each member;
  • maintaining a favorable moral-psychological climate in the team of the University;
  • formation of patriotic feelings in Kazakhstan.

Article 1

Duties of employees of the University

  • to resist actions damaging the interests and image of the University;
  • to oppose any attempts to corrupt practices and actions that create opportunities for corruption;
  • to take care of public property, efficiently and effectively use it;
  • to comply with generally accepted moral and ethical standards;
  • to contribute to international harmony, respect the public and other languages, traditions and customs of the people of Kazakhstan;
  • strictly to observe labor discipline, effectively and conscientiously to perform their duties;
  • not to allow mutual unfounded accusations, the facts of brutality and humiliation of human dignity, indelicacy;
  • not to coerce subordinate employees to commit illegal acts or misconduct that are not compatible with the generally accepted ethical standards;
  • not to disclose information made known during the execution of official duties;
  • to correspond appearance with the type of activity at the University;
  • to comply with generally accepted ethical standards during business hours, to prevent cases of antisocial behavior.

Article 2

Duties of administration personnel of the University

  • to create working conditions favorable for qualitative performance of professional duties and the maintenance of health;
  • to prevent manifestations of bureaucracy while considering application from physical and legal persons and take the necessary measures within time limits;
  • to provide workers with the access to information related to their professional activities;
  • to identify and oppose any attempts for corruption;
  • to follow the ethics of business communication.

Article 3

Duties of the teaching staff of the University

  • to create and maintain the culture of business communication;
  • to create a favorable moral and psychological atmosphere;
  • to observe the correctness of conflict resolution;
  • to maintain and strengthen the reputation of the University;
  • to increase the professional skills;
  • to follow the norms of scientific and professional ethics;
  • to avoid unreasonable accusations of immoral character, the facts of rudeness, profanity, human dignity, indelicacy.

Article 4

Duties of college students, BD, MD and PhD students

  • to observe the correctness to all employees and students of the University;
  • to maintain and increase the prestige of the University;
  • to follow academic discipline;
  • to have a healthy way of life;
  • to respect the traditions of the University;
  • to protect property, maintain cleanliness and order at the University;
  • to demonstrate principles while conflict resolution;
  • to avoid actions of immoral nature, facts of rudeness, violence, profanity, human dignity;
  • to adhere to the principle of tolerance towards each other

Article 5

Duties of training and support, service personnel

  • to maintain good moral and psychological atmosphere climate in the collective;
  • to observe the correctness while conflict resolution;
  • to follow the ethics of business communication;
  • to protect property, maintain cleanliness and order at the University

Article 6

Guarantee of Academic Freedom

To take a scientific criticism and controversy as the natural form of academic communication, to respect the opinions of scientific opponents.

Article 7

Conflict situations resolution

Possible conflict situations must find gradual settlement during sessions of the chair and dean’s office, the Council of faculty or structural department. In case the dispute can not be solved at the level of the department the employees have the right to apply to the Public Council of the University.

Compliance with the above mentioned conditions ensures all the participants of educational activity respect and provides opportunities to realize their intellectual and creative potential
